Korea Bojagi Forum Part 1- Seoul

May 31 – June 3, 2018              

2018 Forum Exhibition and lectures were held in conjunction with the Korean Traditional Architecture Expo, ‘Hanok’ at the Seoul Trade and Convention Center (SETEC). Part 2 took place in New York.

Seoul Exhibitions 

Beyond Bojagi Solo and Group Exhibitions by six International Artists of bojagi-inspired contemporary artworks. Participating artists were Leonie Castelino USA, Marielle Huijsman Netherlands, Maryse Allard France, Raija Jokinen Finland, Sara Cooke UK, and Yoko Kubota Japan. Also included were special exhibitions by the artists of the Textile Study Group New York and the Romanian Bojagi Study Group.

International visitors attended a One-day pre-Forum workshop on making traditional hand stitched bojagi taught by a Korean Master at Ewha Women’s University in Seoul. A Post-Forum Tour led by Moon-Hee Baik included visits to Seoul museums, cultural sites and its famous fabric Market.

KBF 18 Part 2 New York

An exhibition of Traditional Bojagi artworks by 62 Korean master textile artists was held at The Clemente Center, 107 Suffolk Street New York, NY 10002 September 7-October 6, 2018. A workshop on Bojagi Making with visiting artist Haehong Chang was held on Sept. 9.
